Cabled Gaiter

Do you hate cold drafts on your neck?  This cabled gaiter is a quick knit in bulky weight yarn with a crocheted edging.  Also, this is a wonderful way to show off some lovely buttons you have collected.

I have this pattern available for purchase on Ravelry or my Etsy shop.  If you are not a knitter, then please contact me to set up a custom creation!

Tuesday's Temptation

Hey all!  Sorry I missed last week, but I have a wonderful book for you this week.  It just arrived in my mail box and I am already enamored with it. I am sure that you will be too.

Cowl Girls: The Neck's Big Thing to Knit contains 41 designs and I want to make 40 of them!  Cowls, gaiters, balaclavas, and more grace the pages of this incredible text.  Also you will find tips on how to convert from B&F knitting (back and forth) to ITR knitting (in the round) in case you have a favorite stitch pattern that you would like to incorporate into a cowl.

I must admit that I am partial to cowls and gaiters.  I much prefer them over scarves.  Scarves dangle in my way, get caught on things or have to be repositioned over and over.  My cowls and gaiters stay right were I put them and provide amazing warmth which is very important during a Maine winter.  Equally important is that they are small to mid size projects that work up quickly, so if you need a last minute gift that will really be appreciated, think COWL.

With all this going for it, I imagine you have already clicked the Amazon link to get a copy for yourself.  Enjoy!

2 WIPs

My last post told you that I am working on a giant pair of socks for my apartment managers husband. I have only been doing a couple rows per day of the endless leg ribbing. I am just winging a basic sock pattern to make this, so I don't have a link for you. My pictures for this post are bad, because I was lazy and just snapped them on my laptop in my lap.
To alleviate the boredom of ribbing, I have started working on a cowl for myself. It is comprised of 7 crochet motifs attached in a circle which then have stitches picked up and knitted in ribbing. Yes, more ribbing. The yarn is Aegean from my friend Loribird's etsy shop, The Wool Room. The pattern is Amiga. Here is the first completed motif.I will keep you posted on my progress. What are you working on?

Woohoo! I have been productive!

I have been in a very long slump. I have little or no desire to knit, crochet, or even spin. I think part of it has been due to my preoccupation with my up coming surgery, but...and I have a big butt...I have wanted to work on projects for myself. I just wouldn't let myself do knit for myself because I have so many Christmas projects which need to be completed first but I didn't want to do those.

My previous post was about a little Halloween mask that I crocheted very quickly and for some reason, that quick little project seems to have nurtured my crafting mojo. I have 4 completed projects in the past 10 days, and the 5th project is coming right along. All of the projects are super simple, so if you need to make some gifts for the holiday season, I highly recommend these!

First 2 projects I made were the Rubberneck Cowl by Holly Peacock. If you know the knit and purl stitches then you know everything you need to know to make this cowl. The cowl can scrunch down around your neck or the folds will expand to cover whatever is cold on you.The second 2 projects I made were the Crochet Child's Earflap Cap by Candi Jensen. This too, is a very simple project and it will work up very quickly for a last minute gift. After making the first cap, I did make one small change to the pattern for the second one. I changed how I made the ties. Instead of single crocheting back up the chain as the pattern indicates, I slip stitched back up which resulted in a tie that was more firm and symmetrical. Now I am working on a pair of mittens. I just finished the second mitten this morning and saw that it looked must better than the first, so I frogged the first. I am sure it won't take too long to re-knit it now that my mojo is back. Woohoo!

Aqua Cowl

No, I have not died. I am just lazy. That is why I have not blogged. No excuses here, just simple facts.

Although I am a lazy blogger, that doesn't mean I haven't been knitting. I always have time to knit. I have been working on projects for KnittingPurls Winter Warmies KAL in her Ravelry group. I made this Tube Scarf in Lion Brand Landscapes bulky yarn Deep Sea colorway. The pattern was on the ball band.

The following picture is of The Old Shale Smoke Ring cowl designed by Cosette Cornelius-Bates, knit in Red Heart sport weight aqua colorway. I like this one better. Now I am working on Thumbless Mittens for my twin nieces. Shhhhh, please don't tell them. They aren't 2 years old yet and I don't want to spoil the surprise.
